As a common fastener,
carbon steel is also a common screw material. Of course, carbon steel is also divided into different carbon steel screw materials. According to different materials, carbon steel screws reach different grades after heat treatment. Today, Xinglong Screw shares important information about the grades of the following carbon steel screw materials after heat treatment.
carbon steel
Mild steel screws of grades 1010, 1018, and 1022 can only reach grade 4.8 or below without hardening. Different grades of iron wire have different strength levels.
It should be noted that: as a low carbon steel material below 1018, after the heat treatment process, the strength level of the screw can reach 6.8. However, heat treatment can only improve the surface hardness of low carbon steel screws, and the core has almost no change. Therefore, the strength grade of low carbon steel generally refers to the Vickers hardness of low carbon steel screws (referring to the hardness of the screw surface, which is a routine test).
10B21 carbon steel
Carbon steel screws of grade 10B21 can reach grade 8.8 or above after hardening treatment, and can detect the hardness of chromium (HRC) (referring to the detection of surface hardness and core hardness of carbon steel screws).
CM435 carbon steel
Carbon steel screws of grade CM435 can reach grades 10.9 and 12.9 after hardening treatment, and can also detect (HRC) surface hardness and core hardness.
45K carbon steel
The grade 45K carbon steel material is a quenched and tempered material, which means that the 45K wire has been quenched and tempered (double heat treatment of quenching and high temperature tempering). The plasticity, toughness, strength and other properties of the steel are improved, which effectively avoids the deformation of the screw during the later heat treatment process. The production is preheated during production, and the intermediate production process is added, so that the 45K carbon steel screws can reach grade 8.8 after production.
In addition to the above carbon steel materials that often require hardening treatment, stainless steel 410, 430 and 7 series alloy aluminum can also be hardened. Without considering the production cost of screws, boron, carbon, nitrogen three In terms of element co-penetration, almost all metal materials can be hardened, but it is not only a matter of cost, but also a complex operation. Few manufacturers will do this kind of thing.
